We are looking for highly thoughtful and detail-orientated individuals to provide shop drawing solutions for our creative metal and wood fabrication services with a focus on custom designed interior and exterior architectural solutions for high-end residential and commercial clients.

Job Description

Summary

We are looking for a self-motivated drafter who can work alongside Sales and Production. The draftsperson will form part of a multidisciplinary team, and should be comfortable working at a table, computer terminal, in the shop, or in the field. You will usually work at our offices, but will at times need to fulfill travel requirements and work on-site to obtain measurements, supervise installs, and inspect site conditions.

To be successful as a draftsman, you should stay up-to-date with new drafting software and advancements. An exceptional draftsman will demonstrate impeccable attention to detail and have sound knowledge of the discipline they draft for.

Primary responsibilities

Following specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings.
Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with CAD systems.
Performing calculations for materials and weight limitations.
Communicating with architects and engineers, and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.
Preparing, reviewing and redrafting alongside the project team.
Ensuring final designs are compliant with building regulations.
Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team.
A candidate that is really motivated and exciting for us will also possess some level of project management skills

Determine parts and materials necessary for the job and assist with ordering.
Able to use CRM system to track progress of job through various stages of production and be willing to help with sample generation, mock-up development, field measurements, and QA.
Resolve assembly and production issues with respect to drawings.
Participate in product development.
Brainstorm with project team on prototypes and test products.

Qualifications:

Experienced with drafting for millworking or related fields.
Knowledge of Rhino 3D and AutoCAD or related software.
BA/BS in engineering, architecture, or related field.
Degree from a technical college also acceptable.
Experience in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD).
CNC production-ready drawing.
Joinery drawings for bespoke wooden furniture.
Assembly, installation and part drawing.
Assist with creating a parametric library for standard millwork parts.
Ability to draw manually favorable, but not essential.
Ability to work well in a team and on your own.
Ability to respond well to criticism and maintain a positive attitude.
Knowledge of routine fabrication & finishing tooling & machinery.
We generally, as a rule, do not build cabinets, but on occasion, we do.
Valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle transportation.

MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF DRAFTING.
A great opportunity for responsible, mature artistic types with some metal/wood shop experience. Must be able to work well with current team. We are a non union shop.
This is a full time position, but will consider part-time candidates. Pay based upon experience. Paid vacation is part of our benefits package, as well as work schedule flexibility.

COVID-19 considerations:

We will conduct all first round interviews via phone or virtual meeting. Successful candidates will be invited for an in-person skills assessment during the final round, which will be distanced from any other areas where employees are working.
