As our city grapples with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Made In Baltimore will continue our work supporting the needs of local small businesses with support, education and development opportunities. Our Tools of the Trade workshop series focuses on the ins and outs of building an online brand, accessing new customers and optimizing business on digital platforms.

Thank you for tuning in to the latest installment of our Tools Of The Trade workshop series. For this workshop we are joined by Christa Daring of B.R.E.D to discuss the work they are currently doing with cooperative businesses in Baltimore City, educate makers on the options available to them as worker owned cooperative and introduce best steps and strategies for businesses potentially looking to convert their current business to a worker owned cooperative.

More about Christa and B.R.E.D:

Christa Daring (they/them/theirs) joined BRED after a 2.5 year term as the inaugural Executive Director at the Sex Workers Outreach Project – USA. Having grown up in Baltimore City they are deeply dedicated to providing equitable and just solutions to local businesses and change-makers. Christa is deeply passionate about popular and participatory organizing models, believing that community knowledge and wisdom is key to building a new world in the shell of the old. Prior to their position at SWOP-USA they worked at Red Emma’s Bookstore and Coffeehouse from 2011-2017 and Impact Hub Baltimore from 2017-2018. When not pouring over spreadsheets Christa can be found snuggled up with a stack of speculative fiction; snuggling various cats or chickens; trying to create the perfect elderberry syrup; or just digging in the garden.
